FOOD RECAP WEEK ONE

20 Sep

It’s been exactly 1 week since I arrived in New Zealand. To celebrate, let’s talk about happy things, food! While I’m not hunting for any particular food or restaurants, food here is pretty good though some are overpriced. Here’s a quick summary!

Cappricio Wanaka | Rating: 🙂 🙂 | Pricing: $$

I had a dinner here, with slow-cooked lamb shoulder and green mussels. Pricing for the lamb was good given how big they are (I couldn’t finish). The mussels are average, and I think they’re overpriced given it’s only 6-7 mussels.

Had green mussels and calamari after a long day of snowboarding. Both were very good and well-priced.

Fishbone Queenstown  | Rating: 🙂 | Pricing: $$$$

Seafood platter for 2! Was ok, but it’s overpriced at NZD150! Later I realised there’s many other restaurants around the area that has the same dish for much less.

Fork and Tap Arrowtown | Rating: 🙂 🙂 | Pricing: $

Was hesitating between venison and rabbit and went for rabbit hotpot. Not bad, but taste a bit bland. Good pricing though, and it looks good!

Jack’s Point Clubhouse | Rating: 🙂 🙂 | Pricing: $

Tortillas with fish I think. Surprisingly very filling though they look like small sizes.

Flame Bar and Grill Queenstown | Rating: 🙂 🙂 🙂 | Pricing: $$

Combo sirloin steak / baby back ribs. Well priced. The steak was better than the ribs I think, especially for sirloin. Good location in Queenstown Waterfront.

Fergburger | Rating: 🙂 🙂 | Pricing: $

A famous burger joint. There’s queue all day long, and the waiting time is 15-30mins. Tried the original Fergburger. I’m no burger fan, but taste ok to me, nothing special. The ginger beer was good though, but there’s 150kcal in it!

Brazz | Rating: 🙂 🙂 | Pricing: $$

I thought they have beef ribs / steak combo but I was wrong. So since I’m already seated, went ahead with the steak / baby back combos, but got the Hereford eye fillet steak instead. Steak was good, though I’m a rib-eye guy so take off some points there. The baby back was ok, Flame is definitely better.
